In The Beginning God

Genesis 1:1-3

In the beginning God

created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void;

and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said,

Let there be light: and there was light.

Genesis 1:26

And God said,

Let us make man in our image,

after our likeness:

and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,

and over the fowl of the air,

and over the cattle,

and over all the earth,

and over every creeping thing

that creepeth upon the earth.

Genesis 1:27

So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God created he him;

male and female created he them.

Genesis 2:7

And the LORD God

formed man of the dust of the ground,

and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;

and man became a living soul.

Psalm 33:6

By the word of the LORD

were the heavens made;

and all the host of them

by the breath of his mouth.

John 1:1-3

1 In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him;

and without him

was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh,

and dwelt among us,

(and we beheld his glory,

the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)

full of grace and truth.

Romans 1:20

For the invisible things of him

from the creation of the world are clearly seen,

being understood by the things that are made,

even his eternal power and Godhead;

so that they are without excuse:

Ephesians 4:1-6

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord,

beseech you that ye walk worthy

of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

2 With all lowliness and meekness,

with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit

in the bond of peace.

4 There is one body, and one Spirit,

even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6One God and Father of all,

who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Colossians 1:10-20

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord

unto all pleasing,

being fruitful in every good work,

and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11 Strengthened with all might,

according to his glorious power,

unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

12 Giving thanks unto the Father,

which hath made us meet to be partakers

of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us

from the power of darkness,

and hath translated us

 into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14In whom we have redemption

through his blood,

even the forgiveness of sins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God,

the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created,

that are in heaven, and that are in earth,

visible and invisible,

whether they be thrones, or dominions,

or principalities, or powers:

all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things,

and by him all things consist.

18 And he is the head of the body,

the church:

who is the beginning,

the firstborn from the dead;

that in all things he might have the preeminence.

19 For it pleased the Father

that in him should all fulness dwell;

20And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,

by him to reconcile all things unto himself;

by him, I say, whether they be things in earth,

or things in heaven.

Hebrews 1:1-12

God, who at sundry times

and in divers manners

spake in time past

unto the fathers by the prophets,

2 Hath in these last days

spoken unto us by his Son,

whom he hath appointed heir of all things,

 by whom also he made the worlds;

3Who being the brightness of his glory,

and the express image of his person,

and upholding all things

by the word of his power,

when he had by himself purged our sins,

sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

4Being made so much better than the angels,

as he hath by inheritance

obtained a more excellent name than they.

5 For unto which of the angels

said he at any time,

Thou art my Son,

this day have I begotten thee?

And again, I will be to him a Father,

and he shall be to me a Son?

6 And again, when he bringeth in the first begotten into the world,

he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

7 And of the angels he saith,

Who maketh his angels spirits,

and his ministers a flame of fire.

8But unto the Son he saith,

Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever:

a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

9 Thou hast loved righteousness,

and hated iniquity;

 therefore God, even thy God,

hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness

above thy fellows.

10And, Thou, Lord,

in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth;

and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

11They shall perish;

but thou remainest;

 and they all shall wax old

 as doth a garment;

12 And as a vesture

shalt thou fold them up,

and they shall be changed:

but thou art the same,

and thy years shall not fail.

Hebrews 11:3

Through faith

we understand that the worlds

were framed by the word of God,

so that things which are seen

were not made of things which do appear.

Revelation 4:11

Thou art worthy, O Lord,

to receive glory and honour and power:

for thou hast created all things,

and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Lost by Choice Saved by Grace

 Text: Luke 15:11-32

Sometimes we are lost because of the choices we make. The young man in the parable in Luke 15 was in that situation. He developed an attitude of being owed something. He approached his father and asked for his share of the inheritance. He was tired of rules. He was tired of chores. And he wanted what was his so he could do what he wanted to do.

He left home and went into a foreign country. He was finally free to do as he pleased. A crowd of "friends" gathered around him very quickly. Before too long the cash was gone and so were the ("fair weather") friends.

The young man got a job feeding pigs. He was so hungry he thought about eating the pig feed. Then he came to his senses. He would go home and become a servant in his father's house. He memorized his speech and started home.

His father was out watching for him. He ran out to meet him. The young man began to speak but never finished. ("Father I am no longer worthy to be called thy son.") The father interrupted him in joy, welcomed him home, and gave him a homecoming party.

He lost his way but home was where he left it. He had to make a choice and go home.

Lost and Confused

      Welcome to my new blog. I will get right to the point. Have you ever been lost? Have you ever felt lost? Somehow when you try to find your way, it just adds to the confusion. You ask someone which way to go and his answer is that one way is as good as another. There is no true way except your own personal truth in your heart. Your heart sinks and your mind is flooded with more confusion. You are not alone. People all around you are experiencing similar difficulties in their lives.

     Man is more than an animal and more than just a resident of earth then a few years then at death life is no more. We have been lied to. There is absolute truth. There is a God. And there is eternal life that comes after physical death. Jesus the Son of God said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

   " For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19If our hope in Christ is for this life alone, we are to be pitied more than all men." 1 Corinthians 15:16-19

     Other humans in history want all of us to accept what they believe; No truth, no God, no moral  standards to live by.  Those same people will tell you that the Bible is a book of fairy tales. Do not pass judgement until you have read it all. It is the manual given to us by our Creator. The answers to many of your questions are answered by the Bible (God's Word). Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? Yes, It is a book of faith. And our faith is evidence based faith. We could not be there for each Biblical event in history but there is enough reasonable evidence to substantiate the truth and validity of the Bible.

     When we get separated from our Heavenly Father (Our God, and our Creator), we all become lost. When does that happen? At some point it happens to all humans. God created us with the ability to make choices. When we choose to violate God's laws and standards that is called sin. Sin separates us from God. God's Word (the Bible) teaches that sin is the transgression of God's law.  It also teaches that. "all have sinned and come short of the glory ofGod." And sin not repented of leads us to eternal death or eternal separation from God. "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." When we choose to sin, we become lost and separated from God. When someone is lost, they seek to find their way back home. Let's search the scriptures to find our way home.

     Join me as we continue these thoughts in the next blog post.
